Description
Based in the London Borough of Southwark, Cambridge House began life in 1889 when we were founded by Cambridge University to combat the effects of poverty and deprivation in the poorest parts of South London.
Today, as a social action centre and the voluntary sector's community hub in Southwark, we work with vulnerable individuals, families and communities to tackle disadvantage. By providing access to education, justice, advice and opportunities for self-expression we empower them to break free from poverty. We also help develop the sector and increase the reach of our work by providing community groups and charities office and meeting space in our building, and by sharing our knowledge and practices with other charities, corporations and the government.
In the financial year 2012-13, we helped 45,000 children and adults.cambridge house, law centre, advocacy, ch1889, youth empowerment, education, one big community, fundraise, donate, support, employbaility, venue hire, office space.
